Midlands Middle College

Middle Colleges are high school programs housed at institutions of higher learning and are established to help at-risk students who have potential for eventual college studies. A Middle College High School would reduce the high school dropout rate, create a seamless transition to college programs, afford students real-world work experiences and encourage collaboration between K-12 and higher education.

Midlands Education and Business Alliance is the coordinating organization for a Middle College High School -- a unique, three-county initiative implemented at Midlands Technical College's Airport Campus. The multidistrict Midlands Middle College helps students who are identified by school officials as probable dropouts, but who have academic promise. These identified students enroll in the Midlands Middle College program, the mission of which promotes three goals.  MMC works to ensure that each senior earns a high school diploma, provides opportunity for each student to enroll in at least 3 Midlands Tech classes to earn college credit while still in high school and provides opportunity for each student to explore career interests based on the students’ selected career cluster.  Students are drawn from nine school districts: Fairfield, Lexington One, Lexington Two, Lexington Three, Lexington Four, Lexington-Richland Five, Richland One, Richland Two and the Department of Juvenile Justice.
