Committees

Midlands Education and Business Alliance coordinates the activities of standing and ad hoc committees. The committees allow an opportunity for networking and idea sharing to promote collaboration between schools, districts, colleges, businesses and organizations in the Midlands.

Curriculum Alignment Committee

The Curriculum Alignment Committee provides opportunity for discussion among school districts and area colleges on best practices. The committee assists in the selection of appropriate courses for educator professional development. The committee is composed of curriculum experts from the nine school districts in Richland, Lexington and Fairfield Counties and Midlands Technical College.

 

Equal Access Committee

The Equal Access Committee provides an opportunity for representatives to share legislation, transition opportunities, conference information, and success stories in the area of Special Needs. Members work on issues such as transitioning students and the Employability or Occupational Diploma. This is a standing committee made up of representatives of each school district and Midlands Technical College.

Guidance Committee

The Guidance Committee is composed of counselors from each of the nine school districts in the three counties as well as representatives from Midlands Technical College. Committee members are responsible for the dissemination of School-to-Work materials in their local areas as well as serving as a point of contact for each district. The committee coordinates a bi-yearly conference, hosted by local businesses, designed to provide counselors with the opportunity to see real-world context while allowing businesses to interact with counselors.

Career Connections Committee

The Career Connections Committee provides an opportunity for members to share ideas and best practices as well as learn how to increase the effectiveness of the school-to-work program in their school or district. Committee members are responsible for the dissemination of School-to-Work materials in their local areas as well as serving as a point of contact for each district. The committee is made up of school-to-work/career staff in Richland, Lexington and Fairfield counties.
