Midlands educators participated in MEBA's Transportation, Distribution & Logistics Field Study on January 26, 2012, learning about industry skills and careers from professionals representing Southern Connections/Your Destination Travel & Tours; Columbia Metropolitan Airport; Southeastern Freight Lines, Inc.; CSX Corporation; Norfolk Southern Corporation; and Breeland Courier Service, LLC.

Midlands educators participated in a Military Mini-Field Study at Fort Jackson on November 17, 2011.

Midlands students toured local automobile dealerships and facilities and learned from industry professionals at MEBA's Automotive Industry Student Field Study.

At MEBA's Entrepreneurship Workshop and Field Study, participants learned from fellow educators about classroom and activities to give future entrepreneurs the resources and information needed to become small business owners. Participants heard toured the Logan Energy facilities as well as the SCRA USC Columbia's Innovation Center, hearing from local business owners who have successfully launched their businesses.

On October 10 and 11, MEBA hosted the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Career Day and Heathcare Career Day, respectively, for 8th grade students from throughout the Midlands. The events were held at Midlands Technical College Airport Campus and provided students an up close look at education and careers in related industries.

On October 5, 2011, Midlands educators participated the Health Sciences Educator Field Study hosted by MEBA's Health Sciences Alliance. Participants visited several healthcare facilities and heard from presenters representing Palmetto Health, Providence Hospital, Lexington Medical Center, Fortis College, SC Department of Education, USC School of Medicine Simulation Center, Midlands Technical College, and the SC Hospital Association.

MEBA presented High School 101 Educator Training on September 28, 2011, featuring Chad Foster, author of Teenagers Preparing for the Real World and Financial Literacy for Teens.

On September 27, Midlands students participated in "Tech Night" hosted by Midlands Education and Business Alliance and Colonial Life and Accident Insurance Company. The event gave high school students the opportunity to get a closer look at IT as a career through an interactive, challenging and fun evening of activities.

On September 15, 2011, twelve female students from Midlands Middle College had the unique opportunity to meet some of Columbia's "Leading Ladies" including Captain Karen Roxberry, Karla McLawhorne Hawkins, Daric Strickland, Monica Edward, Chameka Bosket, and Christine Wells. On May 26, 2011, 52 graduating seniors were honored as part of MEBA's Midlands Middle College's Senior Recognition Ceremony.

MEBA held its annual Teachers in the Workplace summer graduate course May 26 through June 13, 2011. The course provides educators the opportunity to explore in-depth the real workplace and shows how to connect work-based learning experiences to school-based learning.

On May 19, 2011, MEBA board members, partners, volunteers and friends came together to celebrate MEBA's 20 years of service to the Midlands and to honor Dr. Jasper Salmond for his receipt of MEBA's Service Leadership Award.

Held on May 4, 2011, the Military Careers Workshop helped provide educators with a clear understanding of military pathways, the recruiting process and resources available for educators to inform students and parents about the variety of post-secondary career options offered through the military.

MEBA and Constantia Hueck Foils hosted a "mini" Printing Industry Educator Field Study on April 28, 2011. On March 2, 2011, twenty-five Midlands educators took part in MEBA’s Information Technology Educator Field Study. The event was held at IT-oLogy, an organization focused on advancing the study of Information Technology (IT), and provided information about relative careers, education and training needs, and the industry’s strong future and potential for growth.

More than 30 Midlands educators participated in MEBA’s Manufacturing Field Study held on February 16, 2011 and hosted by MEBA's Manufacturing Alliance. Participants learned about industry careers, toured state-of-the-art facilities and witnessed how computers, robots and people all come together to manufacture products.
