Junior League Helps Fund MEBA Parent Guides

Apr 04, 2011

Midlands Education and Business Alliance (MEBA) is pleased to announce the recent donation of $3000 from the Junior League of Columbia to support development and publication of MEBA’s Parent Resource Guides in the Midlands.

“The Junior League of Columbia is an organization dedicated to strengthening the health and well being of children and families in the Midlands,” said Allison Cox, president of the Junior League of Columbia. “We are proud to support MEBA’s effort to better connect the education and business communities while providing parents with the resources needed to be champions of their children’s education.”

MEBA is currently working with Midlands school districts to develop resource guides for parents to easily connect them to the information and services they need. Simple to use and color-coded according to student grade level, the guides provide answers to frequently asked questions such as what academic and behavioral supports are available, what services are available for students younger than five years old, and what resources are available to help families struggling to meet basic needs.

“Parents want to play an active role in their child’s education,” explains Lisa Call, MEBA’s chief operating officer. “Providing parents with these guides helps to inform and empower them to be their child’s first and greatest teacher. We are so grateful to the Junior League of Columbia for helping put these guides into the hands of Midlands parents and for their constant efforts to improve the Midlands community.”
