MEBA Hosts Hospitality & Tourism Field Study

More than 35 Midlands educators recently participated in a Hospitality & Tourism Educator Field Study hosted by the Midlands Education and Business Alliance (MEBA). Held on March 9, 2011, the day began at the Holiday Inn & Suites Hotel with a welcome and industry overview by Douglas O'Flaherty and Xavier Meier with the South Carolina Hospitality Association. Following a presentation from the South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department, participants toured the Holiday Inn & Suites Hotel, learning about the hotel's operations and careers. The group then travelled to US Foodservices for a tour of the facility and a presentation on potential careers, education requirements, and industry standards and expectations. The day concluded with a stop at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center for tours and presentations.
