MEBA Hosts Student Career Days
On October 10 and 11, hundreds of Midlands eighth graders had the chance to learn about a variety of careers through hands-on activities, engaging presentations and one-on-one discussions with industry professionals. The opportunity was part of two career events highlighting “Careers of the Future” and “Careers that Serve and Protect” hosted by Midlands Education and Business Alliance (MEBA) and held at Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.
More than 170 students representing 11 Midlands middle schools attended the “Careers of the Future” event which featured education and career opportunities related to the emerging careers of the STEM -- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – career cluster. Industry professionals met with participating students, leading hands-on activities and discussing education and training requirements as well as career expectations and opportunities.
