ProStart's Famously Hot Chef Showdown

Students from Heyward Career and Technology Center are selected as finalists in ProStart's SC State Fair 2011 Famously Hot Chef Showdown.

Students from Blythewood High School and Heyward Career and Technology Center were selected as the top six ProStart students winners for the SC State Fair 2011 Famously Hot Chef Showdown. Dakota Jones, Kelly Lynch, Megan Taylor, Chris Reynolds, Tiquasia Scholfield and Braxton Downey all participated in an “Iron Chef” style competition at the SC State Fair where they served as chef assistants to each of the three participating restaurant culinary teams.

ProStart is a culinary arts program sponsored by the SC Hospitality Association to encourage high school students to discover the various hospitality career opportunities, gain employable skills and earn college credits and scholarships to the country’s top hospitality and culinary arts colleges and universities. The competition was presented in partnership with the SC State Fair, General Sales, WIS-TV, the Greater Columbia Restaurant Association, the American Culinary Federation Midlands Chapter and the All Locals Farmer Market.
