Educators
One of the most important roles Midlands Education and Business Alliance plays is connecting educators with business. MEBA activities provide educators with up-to-date knowledge on careers in the Midlands and the requirements students will need to pursue those careers. Professional development activities give educators the opportunity to learn about the ever-changing world of business. The educators use the knowledge to better advise and educate students for future careers.
Educators are important in that they are the ones who work with our youth on a daily basis. They influence perceptions of careers and higher education. Having up-to-date knowledge and information assists educators in guiding students.
MEBA's structure provides educators with an opportunity to collaborate with business on issues facing the Midlands. In addition to training, committees provide a forum for networking and exchange of ideas.
Educators play a valuable role in our community and MEBA is glad to provide support to the professionals shaping the future of our youth.
Professional Development
Midlands Education and Business Alliance offers professional development opportunities to educators to keep them abreast of the rapidly changing world of business so that they can more effectively advise and educate students on future careers and the requirement to pursue those careers. Professional development opportunities include activities such as educator field studies, graduate courses, seminars and workshops, and teacher job shadowing.

Other Educator Programs
“Framework for Understanding Poverty” Training
Training for educators, nonprofit/social service organizations and other interested persons that provides an in-depth study and analysis of information and issues that will increase knowledge and understanding of the culture of poverty and addresses teaching strategies and behavioral management ideas for teaching children of poverty.
Teachers in the Workplace Institutes
A three-hour summer graduate course that requires teachers to spend forty (40) hours in business and industry to make their curriculum more relevant, useful and meaningful for students.
Career Development Facilitator Training (6 hours graduate credit)
Designed to train K-16 educators and other professionals who offer career assistance and guidance services in Career Development Facilitation (CDF).
Global Career Development Facilitator Instructor Training
The CDF Instructor training (CDFI) (three-days) provides curriculum, networking, and guidance that will prepare you to deliver the training. CDFI training is designed for advanced career service professionals.
Educator Graduate Courses
Three-hour graduate courses (i.e. Career Cluster – Healthcare, Manufacturing) offered as a result of annual needs assessments from school districts in Lexington, Richland, and Fairfield counties.
Business Matters
Annual conference for elementary, middle, high school and college educators to discover why business matters to educators and to enhance classroom learning.
