Contextual Teaching and Learning One-Day Workshop

The South Carolina Regional Career Specialists in partnership with the Office of Career and Technology Education are sponsoring one-day Contextual Teaching and Learning Workshops (free to all SC educators ) across the state. 

The Midlands workshop will provide examples of interactive activities from Midlands business partners. The workshop is open to all curriculum content.

ABC's of Dropout Prevention: College and Career Readiness  

The showcase will highlight programs in the Midlands that address the ABC’s - attendance issues, behavior problems and course difficulties - that often indicate a young person’s potential for dropping out of school.

Business Matters Seminar

Business Matters is a conference for elementary, middle and high school educators to provide them with the opportunity to see firsthand why business matters to educators and to enhance classroom learning. Topics include job keeping and seeking skills, dress for success, customer service, real world math and science concepts and other business principles.

Engineering Expo

MEBA and Midlands Technical College are hosting an Engineering Expo for Career Specialist, Guidance Counselors, STEM Teachers and Administrators on the Beltline Campus of Midlands Technical College. There will be hands-on sessions, and program introductions such as Electronic Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology/Nuclear Systems, Chemical Technology / Fuel Cell Technology, and Computer Maintenance / Advanced Computer Systems, Industrial Electricity, Automotive Technology.

Entrepreneurship Workshop

Hear from local teachers who will share information on classroom activities and programs that are giving future entrepreneurs the resources and information needed to become small business owners. Hear the Logan Energy story and tour their facilities. Following a networking lunch, you will travel to SCRA, Columbia’s Innovation Center and hear from local business owners who have successfully launched their businesses.

GCDF Professional Development Workshops

GCDF Professional Development Workshops are held on a monthly basis from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at various locations.  Career Specialist, Guidance Counselors and other educators are notified of the date and location by email.

Military Careers Workshop 

This workshop will provide educators with a clear understanding of military career pathways, the military recruiting process, and resources available for educators to inform students and parents about the variety of postsecondary career options offered through the military.

Poverty Training Seminars

These mini seminars provide tips, strategies, and resources for working with children and parents of poverty.
