Chemical Technology Expo - October 19, 2012

MEBA and Midlands Technical College are hosting a Chemical Technology Expo for Career Specialist, Guidance Counselors, STEM Teachers and Administrators on the Beltline Campus of Midlands Technical College. There will be a hands-on session and program introductions to Chemical Technology / Fuel Cell Technology.

Contextual Teaching and Learning One-Day Workshop - March 14, 2013

MEBA and the South Carolina Regional Career Specialists in partnership with the Office of Career and Technology Education are sponsoring one-day Contextual Teaching and Learning Workshops (free to all SC educators ) across the state. 

The Midlands workshop will provide examples of interactive activities from Midlands business partners. The workshop is open to all curriculum content.

Dropout Prevention Summit - September 27, 2012

Please join us on September 27 to hear nationally recognized teacher, consultant and author Joe Hendershott. Joe lives in Ohio and is the co-founder of Hope 4 The Wounded Educational Seminar Series. Joe’s workshops are designed to educate and empower anyone working with children who are wounded and how to get them to achieve through various programs that include esteem building and emotional development. 

Other speakers include Val Richardson from Palmetto Health.  Ms. Richardson will share SC’s Ten Most Effective Dropout Prevention Models.  Brooks Harper will bring the welcome and facilitate panelists’ discussions and showcase speakers throughout the day.

"Emerging Careers" Expo – September 13, 2012

The Expo will expose you to many of the Midland's "HOT JOBS", training trends and give you the opportunity to network with local business partners. You will have an opportunity to select breakout sessions and visit resource booths for your career development needs.

Financial Literacy Workshop - May 9, 2013 - 9:00 am - 12 pm

Equip your students with the financial skills necessary for them to thrive in the 21st century by attending this workshop with keynote speaker Brooks Harper.  Brooks will present Smart Money Students - who are the CEOs of their personal finances; understanding banking, credit score, debt, investing, and identity theft protection.  You will receive a copy of 7 Skills to Make Mill$ 21st Century Skills=D-O-L-L-A-R-S as part of Brooks’ presentation.  Brooks' presentation

There will also be "Hands on Banking" from Wells Fargo and NEFE Curriculum from Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union.

GCDF Professional Development Workshops

GCDF Professional Development Workshops are held on a monthly basis from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at various locations.  Career Specialist, Guidance Counselors and other educators are notified of the date and location by email.

Midlands Manufacturing…… START  HERE! - April 10, 2013

Designed for Administrators, Counselors, Career Specialists and Teachers - Ten five-member teams will spend a day in one of the manufacturing sites in the Midlands. Teams will be given an opportunity to debrief and plan a return trip with a student and parent. Examples of participating sites are Akebono, Apex Tools, Lang Mekra North America, Mekra Tool and Mold, Michelin, Pontiac Foods (a Kroger Company), PurePower R and D, PurePower Technologies, Square D by Schneider Electric and The Ritedose Corporation.

 Learn firsthand about skills, knowledge, credentials and certifications needed by the manufacturing sector.

  • Get the facts to identify students in your school who will excel in the manufacturing sector.
  • Receive a book Coming Jobs War by Jim Clifton.
  • Enjoy breakfast and lunch with your five-member team.
  • Return to the manufacturing site with an interested student and parent.
