Connect With Schools

Parents need to be involved with all aspects of their child's education, kindergarten through graduation. Research demonstrates students do better when their parents are involved in their education. Parental involvement sends a clear message to students that their parents care and lets educators know they are invested in their child's education and future.

To connect with your child's school:

  • Call your child's teacher and introduce yourself.
  • Volunteer to organize fundraising activities, assist with sports activities, serve as a homeroom parent or chaperone, or participate in a career day. The opportunities for your involvement are endless. Work with your child's teacher or school office personnel to find the opportunity that best suits you.
  • Attend school events.
If your child is being challenged by a problem at school, communication with the school is vita. Start by scheduling an appointment with your child's teacher. If successful resolution is not reached, meet with your child's guidance counselor. If the problem is still not resolved, schedule time with the principal. Administrators and faculty want your child to be successful and will work with you to achieve that success.

MEBA's Parent Resource Guides

MEBA is currently working with several Midlands school districts to produce Parent Resource Guides to help better connect parents and schools. The guides contain a list of frequently asked questions along with specific answers and detailed contact information to help parents and caregivers easily find programs and opportunities to support and improve their child's educational experience.
